I have been living in NYC for the past 3 years, and one thing I have learned is I will NEVER run out of places to eat.
New York has every type of cuisine you could possibly crave or imagine...which is huge for a foodie like me. However, I am also a decision fatigued foodie, meaning I want to try everything EVER here and can never decide which restaurant to tackle first.
So for my own sake, "I'm feeling luckyish post #2" revolves around making a list I can go back to when I want to try something new, but don't know where to begin.
Because there are SO many options, I'm just focusing on Lower Manhattan today.
I present to you: 10 food places I have yet to try but am DYING to try in Lower Manhattan
(in no particular order)
Located in a bustling corner of the Lower East Side, Cervo's is the name on everybody's lips. Some of my fav "foodfluencers" recommend Cervo's, and reservations are often booked up. I want to try it because it seems mysterious and cool...where all the hip people go.
When I go, I shall try: Olives with paprika, Manila clams with vinho verde (because I feel I must)
This list has no real rhyme or reason. And I fear the phrase "I'm opening a gourmet grocer in Tribeca" has infected my social media scrolling. Therefore, I must try said gourmet grocer in Tribeca. I have had a love for high quality pantry and grab-and-go items that I have no business spending money on for as long as I can remember, so may as well check this one off the list!
When I go, I shall try: The chicken salad, the overnight oats, and probably an $8 latte.
Technically, I have tried Golden Diner via takeout. And it was so delicious that I must experience the real deal in person. Enough said.
When I go, I shall try: Honey Butter Pancakes (again), Korean Fried Chicken Wings
This is the hole of all hole in the walls. Tucked away in the basement of a semi-abandoned mall underneath the Manhattan bridge, I've heard whispers about their bao buns. It's cheap, it's delicious, it's fluffy and filling...what more could I ask for?
When I go, I shall try: Steamed Pork Buns
One thing about me is that I LOVE soup. I especially love soup when it is affordable and involves a chewy noodle and a rich broth. This place checks all of those boxes. It's fast casual, it's (reportedly) delicious, and perfect for this winter weather.
When I go, I shall try: Niku Udon (simmered beef)
Not a place for a meal, but a place for my IDEAL pairing: ice cream and wine. They serve natural wine and unique ice cream flavors (such as banana leaf and vietnamese coffee). It's adventurous, it's fun...and will certainly be tasty!
When I go, I shall try: truly any of the wine and ice creams. I'm up for whatever.
I mean...a girl can dream, right?
Yes, the reservation is nearly impossible...key word nearly. I know I'll get there someday. In the meantime, I'll be dreaming about their burger tonight.
When I go, I shall try: the burger, obviously
I've had my fair share of good, great, and exceptional slices in NYC. Perhaps the most pretentious of them all is Ceres Pizza (not said as an insult...I'd expect nothing less from the 11 Madison Park alum's...). They only sell whole pies at the moment, with high quality ingredients, 6ish flavor options to choose from, and multiple hour long lines. It's also expensive: their Nduja pie is $68. But because of its prestige and ominousness, I feel I must try it. So one day, perhaps after a hefty work bonus, I will.
When I go, I shall try: the Nduja pie, the vodka pie, and the classic cheese
This restaurant traveled all the way from Rome to NYC, and I have such an affinity for Italian cuisine. They offer a wide selection of meats and cheeses, fresh pastas, and even a four-course family special. They also offer cheese & wine tasting classes that I would love to be a part of one day.
When I go, I shall try: Burro E Parmigiano "francescana" (aka fancy schmancy buttered noodles)
While Claud is a beautiful establishment, I'm really there for one thing: the dessert. They have a devil's food cake that is 7 layers long...and I need it. They also serve dessert wine. How fun is that?
When I go, I shall try: do I need to even bother saying (the Devil's Food Cake)
