Blogmas Day 1: December Goals

It's the most wonderful time of the year...and I'll be honest, I have not yet felt the Holiday Spirit.

Between it being 70 degrees in California, being deep into finals, feeling a lack of overall purpose and camaraderie, and it simply being 2020, it's hard to feel super festive right now. I've spent time reflecting and trying to resolve this issue; it is completely normal to feel out of sorts, but I'd rather not dwell in that feeling if I can take action.

So I present to you...Blogmas!

Every day of December (starting December 2nd...yes...it's been a year.), I'm going to upload a blog post of sorts. I'm doing this for multiple reasons:

1. To get me in the holiday spirit

Hopefully, if I have an entire month dedicated to Blogging about festive-related things, I'll feel...more festive!

2. Increased consistency with blogging

I love blogging, but I'm not consistent with it during the year due to other obligations. By skyrocketing into a daily post of sorts (with no expectations...just writing freely), I will hopefully get back into the swing of things.

3. To give me purpose

Here in California, we are essentially back into a quarantine of sorts. Not only that, but all of my closest friends live elsewhere, and I am currently unable to visit them. On TOP of all that, once school ends, I will have QUITE the free schedule. I need SOMETHING to occupy my time, and this can give me the purpose I need.

So...with this being the first post...where do I begin?

How about with some goals.

Goals give me the opportunity to hold myself accountable and better myself throughout this winter break. I'm starting with "December goals," but am hoping they will carry themselves into the new year.

Goals are NOT about a rigid, strict "rule," but rather something I would love to work towards in some relation to self-improvement. If I ever feel myself getting too "intense" or critical with these goals...then they aren't serving their purpose, and we will reevaluate!

Enough chit chat. Let's get goalin'.

DECEMBER GOALS

1. Complete Blogmas!

One post. Once a day. Starting today. Whether it be intuitive eating tips, festive recipes, daily recaps, or anything in between, I'm releasing some form of content on the daily.

2. Complete a Workout Plan...kinda

Allow me to elaborate: when at home and with nothing to do, I find I mentally feel my best when I perform some sort of movement, most days in the week. I feel my best when I feel strong; exercise clears my head, gives me a needed boost of endorphins, and reminds me that the body is an incredible thing.

Therefore, I'm going to ~intuitively~ follow Rachael's Good Eats "Good Sweat at Home" workout guide. In other words, I'm going to follow it as best as I can, but if there are days where I am just OFF or do not feel in the mood, I will listen to my body and act accordingly.

3. Journal Every Morning

I always find myself to be the most "in tune" with my body when I perform some sort of mindfulness. My mindfulness of choice is journaling, so I shall dedicate at least 15 minutes each morning to journaling.

4. Perform One Act of Self-Care Each Day

This keeps me sane and happy! Whether that be yoga, laundry, a walk, a face mask, or baking, I'm dedicating one thing to "myself" each day.

5. Reflect on "Highs" of the Day

I want to improve on my gratefulness and happiness, so at the end of each Blogmas post I'm going to include something good that happened each day. This reminds me that despite all the chaos that 2020 brought forth, there is still SOMETHING good in every single day!

And there you have it! Blogmas Day 1. Complete. Get ready...I swear the other posts will be more exciting:)

High of the Day: I made peanut butter blossom cookies. And they are delicious.
