Plot twist...we woke up earlyish today! Meaning we took advantage of the hotel breakfast and stocked up for the week on bagels, muffins, cream cheese, etc.
We also had a desire to workout today...navigating three people all working out in one hotel room posed a definite challenge. However, we made the most of it and didn't stress, and we all felt more energized and level-headed afterwards!
Though we had all already worked up a sweat, we decided to embrace the 95 degree heat and walk to the NYC Highline. They've implemented a free, social-distanced walkthrough. Everyone walks down the path in one direction, allowed to pause/stop at any time to take photos or enjoy the view.
The High Line is truly beautiful! Not only is it a pretty view of the city, but the greenery, flowers, and architecture is similar to that of the Getty. Very serene.

By the time we finished our walk, we were all sweating proFUSELY. I mean, PROFUSELY. We decided that any sort of ice cream was NEEDED. We popped into a place called Lollino; they're known for their Italian pastries and gelato! We found a shady area to pop a squat outside and enjoy the surrounding ambiance. I got two flavors: half grapefruit sorbet and half stracciatella (essentially chocolate chip). The tangyness of the grapefruit mixed with the creaminess of the stracciatella was the perfect combo to cool off with.
We decided to walk to Madison Square Park from there, once again sitting and once again enjoying the views. We then decided to take the scenic route home, passing by the Flat Iron Building and the Empire State.

At this point, we were all sun zapped; the only memory I have of the walk home was this photo:

Once we finally got home, we showered, cooled off, and dug into the most discombulated dinner of quarantine.
We had an appetizer of lime chips and salsa to tide us over, and then I decided to whip up some frozen veggies. I microwaved them to defrost, then sauteed them in some butter and garlic, as well as a makeshift sauce made from soy sauce and honey. These were served with microwaved salted edamame, and leftovers of choice. I opted for the leftover brussel sprouts...cuz yum.

I hopped on a few meetings after dinner, and then enjoyed a night of watching TikTok's, The Office, and Friends in an endless cycle.
A simple day of EXCESS sunshine, snacks, and smiles. As every day has been. :).
